Another senior living facility approved in Janesville

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JANESVILLE—For the second time in less than a month, the Janesville Plan Commission has approved a proposal to build a senior assisted living facility on the city’s east side.

The commission voted unanimously Monday to award a conditional-use permit for a 32-room assisted living community at 2860 Liberty Lane, near the Pontiac Convention Center.

That comes two weeks after the plan commission approved a permit for a 119-room facility at 2696 E. Racine St.

The 32-room building will span 27,000 square feet and include a 2,000-square-foot courtyard, a salon, library, kitchen, pantry, therapy room, offices, common areas, dining areas and activity spaces, according to city documents.

It will have a total of 36 beds. Jay Schnorenberg, a developer for the project, said construction will begin in July and should finish eight months later.

The cost was unavailable Tuesday.

The property is currently home to a parking lot originally intended for the Pontiac Convention Center. A multifamily residential development and office buildings also neighbor the space.
